LAUNDRY ROOM MOODBOARD : ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 1

Eeek! It’s time for the One Room Challenge again! I waffled back and forth as to whether or not I wanted to participate since I am still working on finishing up the exterior, but I am so excited about the potential in this space and I can’t resist a good challenge.

If you weren’t following me when I did the fall challenge, hi! I’m glad you’re here. The ORC is a biannual 6 week community challenge to complete one room (due to Covid-19, they’ve lengthened it to be 8 weeks).

Here is the current state of the laundry room. Honestly, it’s not that bad! Though it does get cluttered really quickly. This is probably the cleanest it’s been since we moved in. Whoops. Things we already have going for us : the tile, the blue door, maybe the wall color. Things we need : storage and style.

Here’s the listing photo. I pretty much immediately retiled and painted, but haven’t done much since.
A few of the things I’ll be doing… board and batten, cabinets, countertops, shelves, linen cabinet!

Our laundry room isn’t huge, but it could definitely be made a lot more functional. When we moved in there was a wire shelf on the appliance wall. I didn’t love it, so I took it down with plans to add cabinets. 2.5 years later I still haven’t added anything back in. I’m stoked to finally have somewhere to keep all the laundry supplies other than on top of the dryer!

I am also going to build a linen cabinet since we don’t have a great space to store extra linens. I mean, we do have a ton of space in our closet that I recently finished, but there are some things (like pool towels and Major’s toys) that I think could find a lovely home in here.

We don’t currently use the laundry as much of an entry because the garage is my chaotic workshop (that’s an organization project for another day…), so I’m not sure if I’ll end up adding hooks in here or not. One thing I am sure about is adding some interest on this long wall with some board and batten. After all, it wouldn’t be a One Room Challenge without a killer accent wall!

Maybe with a cute space I’ll be better at keeping up with laundry… but also maybe not 🙂 Either way, follow me on Instagram and subscribe to my email list so you can follow along, then be sure to check out the ORC page to see what all the other guest participants are up to.

With love,
Mercedes ♥
