The first project that I did in this house was Theia’s nursery. We moved here in the middle of my pregnancy with her and now she is almost four years old! I love her room, but she has been asking for a big girl room and I think it’s time I tackle that for her.

Vibes
I want the room to feel happy and playful and girlish, of course. Theia is all girl, so we are going to make it really feminine. I’m thinking a vanity type mirror in the closet, spots to hang her purses, and plenty of storage for all of her accessories.

It primarily needs to be a restful space for her, obviously, but I also want there to be corners that help spark her imagination! She still naps (thank goodness!) but occasionally will do quiet time, and I know that will only continue shifting. We need definitely need some space in here where we can store quiet time toys so she can use them when needed, but they can be out of sight when it’s time to sleep.
Plans
I still love the wallpaper and it’s going to stay, but we’re going to change the paint color! We could go with a classic blush pink :

A darker pink :

Or (hear me out) yellow :

I am leaning towards one of the pinks right now, but I haven’t written off yellow! I think the right shade of yellow in here could be so joyful, and there is yellow in the paper it would tie into.

Bunk beds. I’m so excited about this! This is the biggest bedroom in our home (besides the primary) and it’s just barely big enough for bunks. I’m going to do some shelves on the end where she can keep her doll house and some other treasures. I’m still undecided on if I want to do curtains or not – what do you think?

Under the bunks, I’m planning to build a couple pullout drawers for her quiet time toys and spare bedding. This feels like the best solution for storing toys out of sight!

With the bunks taking up the majority of the room, I’m going to get rid of the dresser and revamp her closet. I’ll add some drawers for the things we currently keep in her closet, a little vanity top, and of course hanging rods.

I’ve never built bunk beds so it’s sure to be an adventure, but both big kids are so excited about it and I can’t wait to be able to make that dream come true! Follow along on Instagram to see all the behind the scenes and stay up to date!
With love,
Mercedes 🖤
