Our Mix and Match Kitchen Hardware

I went far too long using painters tape as pulls in this kitchen, and before that I went far too long with hardware that I really didn’t like in the original kitchen! Swapping out (or installing) hardware cabinets is such a great way to make a huge difference in any kitchen project. I knew from the get go that I wanted to splurge on hardware in here to elevate the project.

Making a decision on hardware was (like every other decision in this kitchen project) hard for me because I felt like it was high stakes! And not cheap. In all reality, it is not high stakes because hardware is so easy to swap out, and you can make it a super budget friendly project… but like I said, I did decide to splurge on my selection so I definitely wanted to love it.

Here’s a look at the original kitchen – the hardware was fake crystal (plastic) and really not my style.

You know those seasons of life where everything is busy and time just moves so quickly, even though you can’t pinpoint what exactly it is that is keeping you so busy? That’s where I’m at! I’ve been making steady progress in the kitchen and I’m actually almost done! But I desperately need to update you on said progress.

I can’t wait to share more about this hood vent cover!

I knew I wanted brass to bring in warmth and while I love the look of unlacquered brass and the way it patinas over time, I didn’t think it was the right choice with little kids. Instead I chose an aged brass finish, which I think is just as beautiful. The brushed finish gives it such a pretty worn look.

I used this new hardware jig and I really liked it! It’s fancier than anything I’ve used before and it works so well. I liked that I could set it up for all of the drawers/cabinets and then mark all of them right after another without having to measure or reset everything.

Truth be told, I was a little disappointed in the installation of the hardware. I have installed quite a lot of hardware and aside from the round knobs, these were very frustrating for me to work with – I even had a screw break off inside my cabinet! I was so frustrated at what should have been a very simple job. It all worked out in the end though, and the hardware really is beautiful.

On the lower drawers, I went with a mix of knobs and pulls for some added dimension. The pullout trash bin got a pull as well and the lower cabinets got knobs.

Sneak peak of the backsplash!!

Most of the upper cabinet doors have knobs. These are beautiful and heavy weight and they add just the right amount of sophistication! I would have loved to do latch pulls on the tallest glass front cabinets, but I don’t have enough space on the cabinet cover panel to make it look nice, so I just stuck with knobs. The cabinet above the refrigerator has a lift up door, so that one got a pull instead.

My favorite hardware here are the oval knobs with a backplate that I installed on the tower cabinet. They are everything!!

Here is a list of the hardware I used, plus a few more options for you to consider!

I have a few more updates on the kitchen that I’ll be getting to you ASAP! I’ve installed the backsplash, crown moulding, and of course that beautiful hood vent that you can see in these photos! Stay tuned and be sure to subscribe!

With love,
Mercedes ♥
